The Visionaries Behind NBS

Ramasamy Pillai

Founder

The story of NBS® Travels begins with Ramasamy Pillai, a visionary who founded Nataraja Bus Service in 1975 with a simple yet powerful idea. Born and raised in the village of Athipakkam, in the heart of Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur district, Ramasamy Pillai saw the need for reliable and affordable transportation in the region. With a single bus route connecting Thiruppanandal to Sirkazhi, he laid the foundation for what would become a thriving enterprise. Over the years, under his leadership, Nataraja Bus Service expanded its routes to cover wider distances, offering comfort and reliability to its passengers.

Natarajan Ramasamy

Visionary Leader

Carrying forward his father’s legacy, R.Natarajan joined the family business with a bold vision for the future. He played a pivotal role in expanding its services by introducing new routes, including connections from Kumbakonam to Chidambaram, Manalmedu to Kumbakonam, and Kumbakonam to Nagapattinam. Several other routes were also introduced, enhancing connectivity.
In the mid-1980s, He propelled the company forward by launching its first tour bus, revolutionizing the service and opening doors for pilgrims, tourists, and travelers across Tamil Nadu. By 1995, the introduction of a more modern touring bus solidified NBS as a key player in the Thanjavur district and extended its reach to sacred destinations across North India, including Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra.

The Road Ahead

Under R.Natarajan's visionary leadership, NBS established itself as a symbol of comfort and reliability, capturing the hearts of travelers and becoming a top choice for unforgettable journeys. To meet the growing demand, we launched three additional buses and expanded our tour operations.

In 2008, we introduced our first 54-Seat Air-Conditioned Semi-Sleeper bus, setting a new standard in luxury travel. Following this, we added 40-Seat buses specifically designed for tourism. This expansion not only met the rising popularity but also ensured that we could provide exceptional service to an even larger customer base.
